Introduction: Live Betting

Everybody is aware of sports betting on some level: you choose the sport, the event, and then place your bet. There are many types of bets: bets on the outcome of the match, bets on the total, bets on the odd or even score, etc. But there is a special type of bet that is much more exciting and thrilling than simple betting: live betting. In this article, we will be using information from the Betmaster sportsbook.

How does it work?

The concept of live betting is simple: you place your bet during the event rather than before it. There are several advantages to this type of bet:

  • Fun. It’s much more interesting and captivating to place your bet as the event in question unfolds in front of you. Of course, if you are placing bets at the sporting event, you are already interested in the sport. However, making your move during the match adds more spice to the experience.

  • Context. You are in a better position to make a bet. An underdog can suddenly overwhelm the favorite and claim a surprise victory. If you place your bet beforehand, there is no opportunity to take it back when you see the fortunes of different teams/players change. With live bets, you have more time to make up your mind and decide at the moment.

  • Quickness. You don’t have to wait for the duration of the entire match to learn the outcome of your bet, as you can place it in the second half of the match, for example. It's a good option for the less patient bettors.

  • Uniqueness. Certain types of bets are available only through live betting. Many sportsbooks offer unique betting options (the next player to win a point in tennis, for example) that may have more generous rates.

  • Accessibility. It doesn’t mean that regular sports betting is inaccessible; this means that it’s a neat and convenient experience, as most sportsbooks offer live streams with live bets.

  • Versatility. Due to live betting becoming increasingly popular and widespread, you can find almost any type of sport ready for your live bet. You can learn about sports available for live betting at the Betmaster sportsbook in the section below.

Live Betting Options

Nowadays, there is a wide selection of sports available for live betting on most online sportsbooks. Betmaster is no exception: you can place live bets on football, ice hockey, basketball, tennis, table tennis, cricket, volleyball, MMA, baseball, handball, and American football. Additionally, there is a separate betting section for Esports that allows live bets on various cybersport competitions. The games available for live betting include Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Dota 2, League of Legends, Overwatch, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Siege, StarCraft 2, Valorant, and others.

For the most part, live bets are structurally similar to their non-live counterparts; however, there are some exceptions available only during the event. Here, we will take a look at different types of live bets:

  • Bets on the outcome: the most popular and ubiquitous option. This type of live bet is universal for all sports since there is always a winner at the end of the match (except for the sports that allow for a draw).

  • Bets on the total: here, you place a bet on the score, choosing a result higher or lower than the total provided by the sportsbook. For example, the total for football matches on the Betmaster sportsbook is 2,5, a standard for the sport. The total on the ice hockey matches is 5,5, reflecting the fact that, on average, there are more goals in hockey than in football.

  • Bets on the odd/even score: in this type of bet, you are trying to guess the score. On Betmaster, this option is available for basketball.

  • Unique live bets: these bets are only available during the game; this makes them much more attractive and fun. The most popular type is betting on the next player to score a goal. The advantage of this bet is that after its resolution, you can make another right away.

Conclusion

We hope that our article gave you a better understanding of the intricacies and features of live betting. It is a relatively new variation of sports betting still in development; however, we are sure that it will become much more prevalent in the future. Good luck with your bets, and may the odds be ever in your favor!

Live Bets on Soccer

Football is one of, if not the biggest, team sport on the planet. Its fanbase is massive, the number of tournaments is off the charts, and its star players are incredibly famous. We will tell you about the history of football, its rules, top-tier championships, current events, renowned players, and betting options.

Football History

There were many different games with similar rules much earlier in history: Tlachtli of ancient Aztecs, Cuju in Ancient China, Episkyros in Ancient Greece, and many more. However, the current form of football started life in the middle of the 19th century in English public schools. There were two main schools with different styles of the game: Rugby and Eton.

In the variation from Rugby that turned into American Football, players could pick up the ball with their hands, and this variation evolved into rugby. The Eton variation focused more on playing with feet; people consider this variant the predecessor of modern football. Of course, the rules continued to evolve, and several new features appeared, but the foundations of modern football were established.

Rules

Football is a team sport where opposing teams face each other on the football pitch. We’ve listed the main rules of the game below; however, this list does not include all of them:

  • Both teams can have a maximum of 11 players on the field; one must be a goalkeeper.

  • Players need to send a ball into the opposite team’s goal area to gain points,

    similar to hockey.

  • Only goalkeepers can touch the ball with their hands and only when they are within their penalty area.

  • In most domestic and international tournaments, each team can substitute up to three players during the match in the case of trauma or a decision from the coach.

  • The referee observes the game and makes sure that the players follow the rules of the game. It’s also their job to resolve conflicts and debatable situations on the field according to the rules.

  • Unlike hockey, the rules do not encourage rough play, and any violent actions towards another player result in a penalty.

  • Foul results in either a yellow card (a warning) or a red card (instant dismissal from the game); two yellow cards equal one red card.

  • A standard match consists of two halves, 45 minutes each; additionally, a referee can add more time to compensate for time taken by substitutions, trauma, or rules violations.

  • In the case of a draw, the teams play two additional 15-minute periods; if it's still a draw, the game goes to the penalty stage.

Popular Teams and Tournaments

Football is a team sport, and over the years, numerous incredibly talented teams have entered the football stage. Professional clubs are more popular than national teams, which differentiates football from volleyball, for example. The most celebrated teams are Real Madrid, Barcelona,

Bayern Munich, Milan, Arsenal, Manchester United, Manchester City, Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain, and countless others.

Few sports can compete with football when it comes to the number of prestigious and renowned competitions, tournaments, championships, and other competitive events on the professional level. We will name the most famous football championships here:

  • FIFA World Cup, the biggest football tournament in the world.

  • UEFA Champions League, a major football competition between European football clubs.

  • UEFA Europa League is the next main UEFA football club competition

  • UEFA European Championship, a European football event with national teams (not to be

    confused with UEFA Champions League).
